UPDATE - Sunday, January 12, 2025

To say that a good portion of our potential field was “chompin’ at the bit” to enter this year’s Barrett-Jackson “The Price Is Right” might be the understatement of the year!  Of course, the year is only 12 days old, so that’s a fairly low bar, and one that might be eclipsed by the time the sun rises tomorrow… 😊

Day 1 of entry submission saw TWELVE LCCC members jump into the action and submit their guesstimates for the action starting just 9 days from now!  So if you fall into the quickly-shrinking category of those that HAVEN’T entered, it’s time to get busy!  For those using a traditional email editor such as Outlook, you can use the Official Entry Form that arrived in your Inbox shortly after midnight on Saturday morning.  For those that use Gmail or a similar program (or for you Outlook users if you want to try something different), please use the following link: Barrett Jackson 2025 Entry Form.  This will provide your entry in a format that makes your Gamemeister’s job significantly easier to get your guesses into the spreadsheet.

Here it is – the email you’ve been waiting for - the OFFICIAL 2024 Barrett-Jackson “The Price Is Right” Entry Form!!

 â€‹

While Arctic blasts, blizzards, hurricane-force winds and horrible wildfires are tormenting various parts of the country, your 2024 BJ TPIR Entry Form arrives just in the nick of time to give you something to do other than watch the news and shiver (we might even get below freezing overnight here in southern Nevada!)!  Out of the nearly 180 Corvettes registered to cross the block in Scottsdale starting in just under two weeks, I’ve spent hours scouring their listings to select just 28 of the more interesting specimens to test your prognosticating abilities!  Before you begin, detailed instructions on how to fill-in your guesses and submit your entry are included below - PLEASE read them!

Webmaster's note - please check your email so you can 'reply' to Jeff as per the instructions that follow!

HOW TO PLAY

By now, I assume that you’ve read my articles in the newsletter about this great little contest we run each year in conjunction with Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Collector Car Auction, and are anxious to jump-in.  A few rules, a rundown of the prizes, and some other helpful instructions were covered in those communications, so I’m not going to bore you or test your patience with revisiting that info here.  If you have any questions, just pull up the last couple of newsletters, review emails from earlier this week, or drop me an email at zr1-zo6@comcast.net.  If you would like to enter our game (and I really hope you do – let’s shoot for 50 competitors this year with all of the great Rookie prizes available!), here’s the scoop:

  1. Click “Forward” on this email to send it to your Gamemeister (i.e., me)

  2. Enter my email address in the “To” field: zr1-zo6@comcast.net (only the “1” and “6” are numbers!)

  3. At the top of the Entry Form, be sure to type your name next to the text labeled “NAME:”

  4. Enter your guesses for the “hammer price” on each vehicle in the column labeled “Selling Price”.  PLEASE NO “$” signs, NO “,” commas, NO “K’s” for thousands; NOTHING BUT NUMBERS!  For example, if your estimate is $78,000, enter “78000”.  Please don’t hit “Enter”; this will add an extra line (and screw-up/slow down my data entry process).  Simply “arrow down” or place your cursor (i.e., use your mouse and click) on the next box and enter your corresponding estimate.

  5. Wash, rinse, and repeat Step #4 until all of your guesses are filled-in, and then hit “Send”.

  6. I will “Reply” within 24 hours to confirm receipt of your entry.  If you don’t get a reply from me, it means that your entry never arrived.

It’s literally that easy to play.  For those that want to put more effort into it, the description listed for each vehicle is a “hot link” that will take you to the more detailed description for that vehicle on the Barrett-Jackson website.  Sometimes this helps; sometimes you might as well try using ancient witchcraft or randomly picking numbers out of a phone book.  Whatever method you choose, some guesses will be good and others not so much.

This email also includes a pdf of the entry form, and it includes the same “hot links” described above, along with cute little thumbnail photos of each of the cars.

The pdf is really for reference only but is helpful if you want to do some research and write-down your guesses as you go along.  However, using the attached pdf to actually submit your entries via scanning, photography, or mental telepathy is strictly a last resort if you can’t get the above Entry Form email process to work.

Deadline for entry is Saturday, January 18th, 10:00 EDT.  Team Captains will then draft their teams from the entire group of competitors over the next day, and then I’ll finish-up data entry and get the final spreadsheet in order.  Once everything is ready to go, I will send a pdf of everyone’s guesses as recorded in the spreadsheet so that you can confirm everything was entered correctly (if you submit the form via email, it is literally “cut and paste” on my end, so there shouldn’t be any issues).  When the action starts on Tuesday, January 21st, I’ll follow-up with a spreadsheet showing results and a daily recap of the action, heaping appropriate amounts of praise on those with prognosticating excellence, and a fair amount of good-natured ribbing highlighting those that really should buy a vowel.

Questions?  Drop me an email at zr1-zo6@comcast.net, or send me a text / call at 717.201.4690.  Jump in, have fun, and GOOD LUCK!!
