History

Lancaster County
Corvette Club

In the fall of 1978, local physician, Dr. Nick Dragann and an automobile mechanic, Gale Garman, who both had a love for Corvettes, placed an ad in the local newspaper which read “Attention Corvette owners, any year, interested in starting a local club, please give either of us a call”. From that ad, a group of twenty-five Corvette owners came together to form the Lancaster county Corvette Club (LCCC), which continues to thrive to this day.

Shortly after its formation the club voted to join the National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC) and continues to be a 100% NCCC club. The club maintains membership in excess of 100 and is one of the larger clubs within the East Region. Club members own Corvettes ranging from the very first, a 1953 model, and most years since. Race cars, pace cars, anniversary cars, and custom cars. LCCC member vehicles cover the Corvette spectrum.

Each year club members conduct 10 national sanctioned events and 4 regional sanctioned events consisting of 8 people`s choice fun shows and 6 low speed autocrosses. Club members actively participate in both high and low speed events, drags, and concours, plus numerous parades, homecomings, charity events, with at least one social activity scheduled each month. Several club members participate in the Tire Rack sponsored One Lap of America contest. LCCC members attend NCCC National Conventions as well as activities at the National Corvette Museum.

When the club was formed a decision was made not only to support Corvette related activities but to also be an active supporter of local charities and involved in local community activities. From the very first event a commitment was made to donate either twenty-five percent of the proceeds or $25.00, which ever was greater. That commitment continues to this day. In fact, LCCC passed a half million dollar in donations several years ago and is on its way to the one-million-dollar mark. LCCC has twice been selected for the Golden Eagle Award presented by Eagle One for its community service. In 2003 a decision was made to take part in the Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania, Adopt-A-Highway program. Twice a year, club members gather on the designated stretch of highway to remove rubbish. Hundreds of bags have been collected since the club became involved in the Adopt-A-Highway program.

Each year the club schedules a Christmas Dinner plus and awards Dinner and Dance. To celebrate each fifth-year club anniversary, a special picnic and club photo shoot is planned. A general club meeting is held on the second Wednesday of each month at the East Petersburg Fire Company's Fire Hall.  An Executive Board meeting is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Visitors are always welcome and we believe that anyone who has an interest in Corvettes can find an activity within LCCC to satisfy their interest.

When you think of Lancaster County, PA think of more than Amish buggies and whoopie pies. Think of those fiberglass beauties with the horses under the hood-Corvettes and the Lancaster County Corvette Club.
